Welcome to my studio. I'm Fiona Carter, an Australian ceramic artist creating contemporary handbuilt vessels and tableware that balance the sculptural and the functional. Inspired by modernist design, ancient Mediterranean ceramics and coastal landscapes, my work explores rhythm, colour and quiet balance through textured clay, layered surfaces and deceptively simple geometric forms.

Each piece is thoughtfully made in my Sydney studio using handbuilding techniques, coloured slip decoration and textured clay bodies. Through a slow and considered process, I create ceramics that celebrate craftsmanship, materiality and the tactile beauty of the handmade.

My collections draw on architecture, geometry and the natural rhythms of the coast, translating these influences into contemporary ceramic forms that evoke a sense of calm and connection.
